My Pan Flute
by Stella S.

I made it out of cane and string. I took seven canes that I cut into different lengths and cleaned them inside. I put them in a row from the shortest to the longest and tied them together with the string. I blow into them holding the instrument in a small angle from my mouth.
This kind of flute was played by the Greek god Pan, as well as by shepherds of the same period. Similar flutes were discovered on the Solomon Islands at the Pacific Ocean and in the Andean highlands, where the shepherds still play them when guarding their flocks.
